The Lion King

I bought tickets to see The Lion King at the Fox Theater this weekend for Christina's birthday earlier this summer. We took Carissa along and she loved it!

Post #nwlr Fun Part 2

Our destination yesterday on our short trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway was Devils Courthouse. That's the rock outcropping at the upper left. It was a pretty steep, 1/2 mile hike to the top. Carissa actually walked quite a bit of it, but ended up on my shoulders the rest of the way (I'm submitting this to "Dad of the Year"). 

Carissa got a little tired on the way up (after riding on my shoulders most of that time), so we took a little break.

On our way back we stopped at a few places to take pictures of Looking Glass Rock. When it's wet or covered with ice, it shines like glass.

There was also a pretty nice looking waterfall that you could hike down to but we all pretty exhausted from our previous hiking trip.

First Pigtails

A few weeks ago, Rolla had it's 2nd annual Celebration of Nations parade, basically a parade to celebrate all of the nations and ethnicities represented in Rolla. For the parade, Carissa got her first pigtails. I'll post more photos from the parade later.

Girly Time

Christina is teaching Carissa the finer arts of being a lady. And yes, I did play a part in this lesson. My thumbs were a test subject.

Carissa the Photog

Carissa took this shot all by herself. She's getting quite good at holding the camera up on her own, even with the external flash like in this photo. I'll have to get a camera for her someday soon.

Pink Toes

The girls painted their toes last night. Carissa was excited about it but then after one foot was done, she was second guessing herself. She started to tear up and was very worried that something was wrong with her toes. But after mommy painted her toes, Carissa was excited again.

Our First Picture: Mexico 2003

I was looking through pictures with Carissa yesterday and found this picture of Christina and I from a springbreak work trip to Mexico in 2003. It was our first picture together. She thought we were friends. I was in love. We started dating on the next spring break trip in 2004 and were engaged by springbreak 2005. 

4 Years Ago Today

This was us four years ago today. We're a bit different from ourselves then. Which is good. I actually might be skinnier, but that's not a good thing. No one wants to stay the same. We should all have the expectation that we would be changing, specifically becoming more like who Jesus intends us to be.

I'm so proud of how Christina and I have grown and changed over the past several years. I truly love her even more each day we're together. And I know that God has even greater things planned for us.

Birthday Girl

Today is a special day. It's Argentina's Independence Day (h/t to Mike).

Well, it also the day my lovely wife was born. Christina's parents graciously watched Carissa tonight so we could go out to dinner to celebrate. The birthday girl let me get a picture.
